
Tuina,
with it´s roots in ancient China, belongs toTraditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM). Its philosophy is based on the same principles as acupuncture and
qigong.
Tuina corresponds with the science known in the Western world
as chiropractice.
It is a manual method of treatment, consisting of
different massage techniques and is frequently used in physiotherapy.
Tui means to push and na to grab.
An even earlier kind of Chinese massage is anmo,
where an means to press and mo to stroke, an name still
used to describe ordinary massage. There are a great number of Tuina
techniques, originating from different parts of China. Tuina can be used
to treat and cure many complaints, among others slipped discs, tennis
albow, frozen shoulder, ischias, rheumatism, high blood pressure,
various stress symptoms.
Tuina is, like acupuncture, an implement, manifesting the
powerful principles and theories of TCM. This kind of treatment can be
an alternative for people who, for some reason or another, cannot
accept needles. With various grips and manual techniques, the therapist
produces favorable effects for health and well-being. The treatment is
mostly very pleasant and Tuina is often used for better fitness.
