
Shaolin qigong belongs to the tradition of Chenbuddhism and has arisen, been improved and maintained in the Shaolinmonestry in China. A great deal of this knowledge has been disseminated to the Western world. However, some of the monks´ knowledge has a character of mysteri and is kept inside the monestry. Shaolin qigong is a kind of ”hard qigong”, martial arts qigong, often associated with Kung Fu. The Shaolinmonks have always been wellknown for their strength, agility and skil in using the power of qi. These are the reasons why this unic kind of qigong is so attractive, particulary in martial arts. Within Shaolin qigong there are many different systems and levels. Some are quite easy to learn while some others are very advanced and demand strong physical and mental health from the practitioner. There are several schools of Kung Fu situated in the vicinity of the Shaolinmonestry, where students can learn different kinds of Shaolin qigongsystems.
